Therapeutic area

Treatment-Resistant Epilepsy

Our most established area of clinical research, including human evidence in children with severe, treatment-resistant epilepsy.

Medical background

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures. In a subset of patients, seizures continue despite treatment with multiple appropriately chosen anti-seizure medications — a condition described as treatment-resistant, or drug-resistant, epilepsy.

Treatment-resistant epilepsy in children and adolescents can carry a significant burden for patients and families and represents a substantial area of unmet medical need.

Unmet need

A meaningful proportion of patients do not achieve adequate seizure control with existing therapies, and some report not having found a suitable alternative treatment.

There is a need for standardized, well-characterized therapeutic options studied through rigorous clinical research.

Our research focus

Better Cann Pharmaceutical was involved in multi-center clinical research involving children and adolescents with treatment-resistant epilepsy at major Israeli medical centers.

This work informs how our standardized, plant-derived formulations are characterized and developed.
