CBD-enriched medical cannabis for intractable pediatric epilepsy: The current Israeli experience
Abstract
A multi-center retrospective study across five Israeli pediatric epilepsy clinics describing the effect of a standardized CBD-enriched cannabinoid oil (CBD:THC 20:1) in children and adolescents with intractable epilepsy resistant to multiple antiepileptic drugs.
The cohort included 74 patients (ages 1–18). Most patients (89%) reported a reduction in seizure frequency, with improvements also observed in behavior, alertness, communication, motor skills, and sleep. The authors concluded that the results are promising and that further prospective clinical trials are warranted.
